okay, now wait, wait. "that's not a shapes montage," i hear you cry.
well, it does meet the letter if not exactly the spirit of the assignment. see i had this image in my head from a poem and it kept trying to get out. i've never used shapes in a montage before and i did here.
the 3 frames are rectangles with the middles subtracted by other rectangles. the 2 on the right are overlapping on the same layer. there's also a fern shape, some parallel lines at the top for texture, a line at the left that i needed to squiggle and below the middle picture, you may be able to see my infamous grid.
the text in the montage is the 2nd and 3rd stanzas of a poem by Rainer Maria Rilke entitled Erinnerung [Memory}. it has been a favorite of mine for about 40 years.
i couldn't fit the entire poem on here so selected the last part.
i hope the montage captures the essence of the 2nd stanza that was in my head complete with an image all weekend.
the montage that actually ended up on screen doesn't replicate my vision as i'm no artist, but it comes reasonably close given my lack of skills. the women in the middle are wrong but they were the best edwardian women i find.
the poem is presented in english and auf Deutsch on the message board site from whence you linked to this page.
