this is just a piece of silliness that did involve a path and a problem but that doesn't really belong here except that it raised a question.
be warned, it's about 75 kb.
i call it "no escape." it nearly drove me right round the twist. it came to me while i was having a lie down and badgered me until i made it and then i was certainly not going to leave it sitting in my file unseen. besides, it took me ages and caused me to learn something very important.
lesson: i thought i would do my computer monitor and on the screen, a screencap of the screen iterated to infinity. well, not infinity but i think i did 4 or maybe 5 caps.
when i made the monitor, i unthinkingly made a rectangular path using only 4 points at the corners. it was very easy but then when i went to make curves, i couldn't curve the corners. would you believe it took me several *hours* to figure out why and how to fix it? now that i've read about bézier curves, i can see why i had a problem.
it also took me hours, and a lot of philosophical contemplating, to finally come to terms with the fact that i could not show the completed exercise as a screencap inside the "monitor." i think too much.
anyway, i've done a quick and dirty in the next piece to demonstrate that i can put very small curves on the corners of a rectangle using the pen tool and 8 anchor points justly placed. i'm not very good at it, but i will be with practice.
